Note that this is a CUSTOM edition for BMCC.

The main reason you will need the book will be to 1) do homework assignments that are given at the end of each chapter and 2) you may want to refer to it as you learn the material (although my online lectures will have all of the necessary information--you may prefer to read the book in addition to my online lectures as a reference. If you have access to a book without purchasing it (e.g. at the BMCC library, from a friend who also took the class), and you do not think you will want to use the book as a reference (take a look here at my online lectures to see if you think they provide enough information for you to learn the material without consulting the book), then you will only need those pages at the end of the relevant chapter sections (e.g. 2.1, 2.2, etc) that contain the homework problems.
